archive

This is the archive of old posts from two previous blogs. It does not include the archive of comments.

 1. The more recent of the two was hosted at LiveJournal and existed primarily as a vehicle to push articles onto PlanetKDE, a site which syndicates KDE developer blogs. This contains roughly 100 entries between 2007 and 2009.
 2. Previous to LJ, I wrote, hosted and administrated blogs for myself and several others from an old computer I had kicking around. It was never reliable and finally failed in 2007. However, between 2003 and 2007, I posted something like 513 entries.

Blog Updates

Jul
20

(The book review portion of this original post has been moved to its own entry under Reviews)

This here is an information post, for no real reason other than to archive event(s) that may have no bearing on anyone's life but my own. But isn't that what all blog entries are? I mean, the concept is just an extension of a diary, except that it is publicly readable. I guess it has the same benefits for entertainment that 'reality' TV has -- it's first filtered for unwanted material, then it's released in an exclusive fashion.

The 'Jogging' Post

Jul
18

Alright, this is to be the running post for the day. At no point shall I complete the entry in the next three hours. I will keep adding bits to it as I think of stuff...

First off, Ron is finishing Harry Potter instead of working. Sound like anyone else we know? *grins*

I want a crater on the moon named after me. New goal in life...

Insight is fleeting about my head today, like the 80% of my brain that is normally dormant is stirring. I can't consciously say what it is or why yet...

Bumped to 100!

Jul

Couldn't resist the urge to post another bump post: the nature of this one is that this is the 100th post that I've made. Cool, eh?

Be safe...

I love it when things are put into perspective every now and again. I especially love it when it can be done without rhetoric.

Oddballs

Jul

Yesterday was a weird day: I got the team MVP at the ball game (as nominated by the opposing team) without even stepping onto the field. Says a lot about the rest of the teams performance on the field. I batted twice (and switched), but that was my only contribution.

We lost (again).

Starting in two weeks or so, I get to play EQ for free. They think I'm a good enough player to be worthy of a few extra responsibilities in exchange for a free account. Can't really complain.

I'm broke. Running a tab at Koya, how funny is that...

It's THEM

Jul
16

Hrmm, Ron sure was in a ranting mood today...

So for the last few weeks I've been working on a project to bring a new mail server together here at work. Basicly the old one is old.

So, we have a computer, and we're setting it up...

First thing we discover is that setting up and configuring sendmail is akin to having to eat an old XT (without salt, no less). In other words, it's hard. So we dumped sendmail in favour of postfix, which we set up in a matter of minutes (compared to sendmail's days of configuration).
