Hey guys, we've received a few notes from people who are not going to attend the main event at Mountain View (the 4.0 release event) on January 17-19th about the possibility of having parallel parties in other locations.
We really want to encourage this (although if you can make it to Mountain View, we'd love that too), so if you live anywhere where there are at least two KDE people, set up a party! I'm presuming that some of our friends from Trolltech, KDAB, the distros, etc. may be well located to act as a staging ground for people that want to meet to celebrate 4.0. Well, by that I mean that they'd be good places to meet to watch the planned live feeds, and then make your way to whatever your local pub is to raise a glass for KDE :)
If you are planning, or would like to plan a local party, please email release-event@kde.org and we'll be sure to blog about it, and get it into a list of local parties for eventual release via the dot or otherwise.
