Stayed up longer than I intended too -- everquest will do that to you though. Intended to sleep at 11PM, but ended up idling around as a bard until 2AM.
So I wake up at a nice sunny 8AM: shower and jump in the car, wearing my new green clothes. The colours look to perfect so far -- nothing a healthy dose of time cannot fix.
I needed to go vote in the morning, at 185 Smith St. Having no idea where this is, I drive around looking for it. Turns out that it's a mere two blocks from my apartment, and I would have to pay to park to vote. Thus, I drove my car out of downtown to my usual parking location near the Norwood Community Centre and walked back downtown. I get to the polling station at 9:30, intending to vote for the communist party candidate in my riding. Lo and behold! no candidate. Depressed, I voted liberal, as it was the only party I actually knew enough about and still didn't detest fully.
I, of course, will not let this happen to me again -- next time I'll confirm a communist party candidate before I vote, and if there is none, I myself would run! (I'd get 10 votes! Yeehaw!)
So, 9:40 in the morning -- I've voted, and have nothing to do till I meet up with Evan as scheduled from the previous night. I head to the library, but it doesn't open till 10. So, I sit in the park beside this cute girl that's reading a book and watch the construction types renovate the pond. Quiet and loud at the same moment -- very odd.
I snag a Ben Bova book that I've yet to read from the library (Peacekeepers) and head back to the park to read while waiting for a call from Evan. The nice girl leaves and I am too shy to say anything, I just pretend I don't notice and keep reading. At 11ish, Evan calls and cancels our arrangements. C'est la vie -- but I could have at least had some company *grins*.
I head to my apartment and read there on my nice comfy computer chair. I get a call from my mother, who is talking on and on as motherly types are wont to do. Annoyingly boring, but politeness prevails.
12:45, still reading. Supposed to meet Liz for lunch at 13:00 in front of the Canada Post building. Takes a mere 5 minutes to get there, leaving me to sit on the bench like a nerd for 10 minutes staring at the front door in pseudo-eagre attentive poses. At 13:02, she emerges and we head to Koya at the 'square'. It was good food, and we spent most the time chewing since she only had 30 minutes for lunch.
After saying, 'cheers', to Liz, headed back to the apartment. Continued reading the book I got, as well as trying to get information on my tardy tax return from H&R block. They are most unhelpful and have lost my business for the following years.
14:30 rolls around. I head to work on foot. A short walk and I'm at work trying to build a mail server. I got sendmail and IMAP up and running on a nice slackware server, but POP3 is just stupidly stubborn and refusing to work for me. So I'm taking a break from that and writing this entry.
*Future Forcast*: So I will hit the Add Entry Button, and check to see if the entry looks good enough on the blog page itself. After being quite content, I'll check all the other blogs on the system for anything new or interesting, and then try again on the mail server.
Then, I'll go to the can for some water (from the drinking fountain, not the toilet *grins*) and spill some on my new pants. I'll curse at the wet spot, and promptly forget about it.
Mike will call be at least once more during the evening with a question about style sheets, and I will brush him off because I really don't know. The stylesheet on this site was more or less an accident of trial and error. He will grumble his half-hearted appreciations and keep trying on his own.
At 23:00 I'll stop being frustrated and head home disappointed that I couldn't get it working. I'll go promptly to sleep, without having remembered to lock my apartment door.
*grins*
