archive

This is the archive of old posts from two previous blogs. It does not include the archive of comments.

  1. The more recent of the two was hosted at LiveJournal and existed primarily as a vehicle to push articles onto PlanetKDE, a site which syndicates KDE developer blogs. This contains roughly 100 entries between 2007 and 2009.
  2. Previous to LJ, I wrote, hosted and administrated blogs for myself and several others from an old computer I had kicking around. It was never reliable and finally failed in 2007. However, between 2003 and 2007, I posted something like 513 entries.

Hockey - again!

May

Well, the moose lost. No tears shed however -- the 9th seed forced the 1st seed to a 7th game - and then only barely lost.

Predictions for this NHL round: Ottawa over Jersey in 6, Anahiem in 7.

We shall see -- so far I'm a perfect 50% with my predictions *grin*. Be safe.

Hockey Revisited

May
10

Well, the cunucks lost! Now I must cheer for Minn over Anehiem - since I cannot bring myself to cheer for a team that is based in a city where there is no snow.

Anyway -- I wonder if the Moose can pull off a win tomorrow... That would do wonders for their fan following in this city.

Roleplaying

May
09

Well, not an expert in writing fiction to any degree, I do however quite enjoy the act of roleplaying. Even from outside the game - I still enjoy literary channels of role-playing.

(that paragraph wasn't quite right...)

Anyway, I present this text as an example of why I truly love Everquest.

If you have the time, read it, otherwise, simply peruse it briefly.

Expelled...

May
08

I have been officially expelled from Syndicate Ro now. It is a sad day for me - I wore that name with pride. Oh well, all is not lost.

There was a dispute between those who were leaders in title, and those who were leaders in action -- this is always a sticky situation, and has resulted in all sorts of conflicts historically.

As the French would say -- c'est la vie.

Be safe folks.

Laments

Just for the record: having no money sucks. So does knowing money is on the way but not being able to use it yet (tax return). Anyway, that aside, I venture into a virtual realm.

As many of you may know, I used to be an EverQuest addict. Before I was employed full-time at ByteBenders, I played nearing 8 hours a day. Well, I wouldn't say played, so much as socialised with avatars of people I had never met. All in all, except for its addictive nature, a heck of a lot of fun.

New hockey predictions

May
07

Well, second round of hockey being complete (or nearly), time to make some more predictions, as well as see how well my old ones held up.

I was bang on regarding the Ottawa series, but all the other ones I missed. Jersey won in 5, instead of 7, and Anahiem won once again when they weren't supposed to! Vancouver and Minnesota are still playing, which also shouldn't have happened -- game six is tonight, which proves that I missed my prediction. I still think vancouver will pull off a win, but in 6 or 7 is now the question.

Hockey Predictions

Apr

A little less deep this time...

Here are my predictions for the second round of the NHL playoffs:

  • Ottawa over Philly in 6
  • Jersey over Tampa in 7
  • Dallas over Anahiem in 7
  • Vancouver over Minnesota in 5

Also, I think the Moose will lose in 6 to Hamilton... a pity really...

Well folks, place your wagers :P

On a semi-related note -- related in the sense that it has to do with sports, anyway -- I will once again be playing softball this year, quite possibly pitching again. Who knows what'll happen...

Nirvana, self-awareness, chi, spirit, blah!

Apr

It seems that I've neglected this site for long enough. Time for a new post...

I think I've finally fully realised who I am. This may come as a shock to those of you who already know me, but sometimes it's easier to see outside yourself than
inside.

Space advocacy

Mar

Well, I was browsing the web looking for information on the asteroid 433-Eros when I accidentally came across www.permanent.com -- a bit amateur at parts, but seems to be mostly well-developed. In some places it becomes quite apparent that the guy running the show is doing so in a solo endeavour.

Phones, Drones and Forests of Pine

Mar

First off, a minor backstory:

My father used to work in the lumber industry and was often in the middle of nowhere planning to fell some trees. He didn't actually do the whole lumberjack thing himself, he just chose where and when to cut and had his drones do all the work.
